What is satellite radio?  Satellite radio is a subscription service that is received via satellite. Subscribers can receive music and other programs in digital quality for a small monthly fee.

Can I use my existing radio? Yes and No. Your existing radio will not be able to pick up the signal by itself. You can either buy a new radio designed to pick up satellite or you can buy an adapter to allow your radio to receive satellite radio.

What does satellite radio sound like? It will sound better than standard FM radio. The music will be broadcast in all digital format, giving you CD quality sound.

What kind of programming is available? All kinds of programming is available. There will be music channels in every style, many of them commercial free. There will be sports, news, traffic, weather and more.

Can I get satellite radio in my home? Yes, you can get it anywhere that you have the equipment. Portable units are available which will allow you to use the same unit in your home and your car and only pay one subscription fee.

Can I use my satellite radio to get local stations? No, you will have to use an FM receiver to pick up local radio channels.

How much does it cost? Check with your provider for details, but it is generally in the neighborhood of $10 a month.
